Philippines First Yamaha Mio Soul i (EFI) 115cc
Yesterday, Yamaha Philippines Inc launched its latest product, Yamaha Mio Soul I,
The first EFI motorcycle of Yamaha in the Philippines. We should thank Yamaha Philippines
for bringing in EFI scooter bike in the country.
Electronic Fuel Injection motorcycles are known to have the best fuel economy due
to its controlled fine mist of fuel into the engine. This is the same as with newest efficient
diesel cars known as CRDi (common rail direct injection) only that its for gasoline engines.
Yamaha name their EFI technology as YM-Jet FI (Yamaha Jet Fuel Injection), While Honda
call them PGM-FI (Programmable Fuel Injection), basically it uses the same process that is
injecting a very fine mist of fuel into the cylinder, only different name for marketing purposes.
Yamaha Mio Soul i in the Philippines is also known as Yamaha Soul GT in indonesia and
Yamaha Mio 115i in thailand. We have to find out what will it be called in Malaysia.
Both indonesian version and Philippine mio efi versions are the same, Thailand version is different.
Its headlight is built together with the steering while the Philippine version is on its front body cowling.
The good thing about the Philippine version is the user has an option to install another headlight
using the thailand version thus having two headlights is possible
Speedometer is also different

The problem with previous version of mio is the lack of ubox space for helmet.
This new version solves it, the ubox is big enough to fit your helmet and few gadgets.
The piston is forge piston, taken from Yamaha Sniper bike only its smaller in diameter.
Forge pistons are known for strength and lightweight which reduces engine vibration.

As well as its diasil bore where there is no steel liner but a full alloy silicon material
which helps desipates heat faster and efficient compared to steel bore.
However, its AIR COOLED engine unlike Sniper and Mio MX where its liquid cooled.
Surely future version of this EFI will be liquid cooled. But since this is an introductory
EFI motorcycle of yamaha, The total cost of the bike is the first factor they put in.
Expect more variance of EFI bikes in the future.

Apperance = 1
Performance = 2
Price = 3
Fuel consumption = 4
And here are my comparison: MIO Sporty vs. MIO Soul FI
Apperance = MIO Sporty (eye-catching sporty look)
Performance = MIO Sporty (horse-power can trail 35 degrees and even more)
Market Price = MIO Sporty (the time I purchased it the cost is P62,000, now the current price P68,000)
Fuel consumption = MIO Soul FI (but for your information my current consumption of my MIO Sporty is now reaching 54 km/L)

Ang kagandahan lng ng motor na yan . Matipid siya sa gas ang tanong pede bng pang drag yan kasi hndi napapalitan ang carb eh ! Chaka kapag nasira wala kang mabibilan ang spare parts sa ordinary market sa yamaha ka lng makakabili ! At ang pagkakaalam ko sa bike na yan pamaykrochip yan pag nasira yung pinakang housing niyan lahat ang chip palit lahat . Chaka ang mahal pa hndi kaya ng masa yan !:/

The highest reported FC during break-in was 62Km/L. my consumption so far is one of the lowest due to my weight, riding style and terrain. My highest FC so far is 42Km/L.

talagang matipid ang mio soul i at mabilis humatak di gaya yon may carburator, nahihirapan makakuha ng bwelo. sa palagay ko, di naman magbebenta ng motor ang yamaha na madaling masira, alam naman natin na tested na ang mga motor nila dahil yon 1st motor ko na nabili ko nun 1996 na RS100t, yon 2stroke na pampasada at hanggang ngayon ay tumatakbo pa. at yon motor ng kapatid ko na crypton 110cc na nabili niya nun 1998 ay tumatakbo pa rin at take note, di pa natune-up at nabuksan ang makina nun eversince nabili nila sa norkis!!! kaya tiwala ako sa yamaha pagdating sa motor kahit mahal ang presyo niya, sulit naman dahil matibay at tatagal basta alagaan lang natin.

I own a Mio Soul i, my unit by far is very fuel efficient, ranging from 47kms/L (hataw speed) to 57kms/L (cruising speed). To know your actual fuel consumption, fill the tank (hindi siksik) note the odo reading, pag naka kalahati na, mag full tank ka ulit, wag siksik ha, less noted odo reading to your present odo reading, then divide the litres filled to your kms run.
I purchased Mio Soul i last Dec. 22,2012..So far it performed well and the fuel efficiency is good.
mga sir help me naman kukuha kasi ako ng mx 125 kaso mejo lumabas itong soul i. ano po ba ang mas may advantages when it comes to maintainace. need your expert advice.

fueled up @ Shell amparo station full tank 100 pesos @ 48.52/ liter Vpower nitro + approx 2.06 liters
way back home i refueled again at same gas station full tank costing for only 60 pesos exactly
approx 1.23 liters
conclusion:
my mio sporty (BUDDY) 160cc fuel consumption is 72.3km/liter
specs: 59mm bore, 28/24 valves, Stock stroke, 24mm carb
MIO SOUL i EFI fuel consumption is 55.7km/liter

advantages: matipid sa gas, quick response (pero smooth acceleration), hindi po takaw dagdag sa lagis, new model, may FI tuning tools na po ang yamaha dealers.
disadvantages: first unit FI model maaaring hindi kasing stable katulad ng mga naunang models.
basta regularly check engine oil para malaman kung nabawasan, kailangan na magdagdag. high quality engine oil dapat mahal man hindi naman ma-sacrifice yung engine performance, para iwassira. hindi naman po madaling masira ang isang sasakyan basta all stock (standard quality, original parts ang nakakabit.)

maganda ang FI para sa mga tao gusto mag tipid..pero kaso lang wala pa parts for racing..customization na kac ngayon ang uso kahit saan ka magpunta may makikita ka talagang customized bikes…kaya sa old mio ang vote ko..
Yamaha Mio Soul i po, 52km/L, top speed is 110km./h, safe po ang computer box kahit mabasa ng ulan o bumaha, basta wag lang naka on ang makina, computer box controls lahat, pagisinampa sa dyno, iconnect yun cables sa sensors connected to Yamaha’s laptop, malalaman na kagad kung may problema sa block, ignition, tambutso, kung may pinalitan kang mga ilaw, so it is really hassle free, and extended ang warranty for 2 years, may mga karga na naavailable for Soul i, pero nasa Thailand palang, next year, 2014, arrival, sa Pinas, check Japanese tuning, mas mabilis ang mga kargadong Fuel Injected kumpara sa old school na carburator, in Japan, iTune lang nila yun ECU o Computer Box, they could increase the horsepower and torque output ng motorcycle o kotse, and that’s how easy it is! Kung stockan ang labanan, mas matipid Soul i kumpara sa older version ng mio, pagnakargahan pah lalong mas matipid!
