Today, Yamaha Motors Philippines Inc (YMPI) just announce its launching of its first Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) motorcycle in the country.
Due to insistent public demand, Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc. will be having a Yamaha Club Day on Sept. 9, 2012 (Sunday) on the MOTORSHOW itself. Witness the unveiling of Yamaha’s First F.I. at SM Mall of Asia Atrium at 4:00PM onwards. ….
With the statement from the Yamaha itself, Im wondering what bike model will it be?
There are currently 4 EFI models that yamaha has, these are:
- Yamaha Vixion/FZ150i – This was launched 5 years ago in indonesia, its a 150cc liquid cooled engine using EFI. Naked bike type
- Yamaha R15 – Launched in india for indian market, but soon also in production for Australian market. Sports bike type
- Yamaha R125- Originally for european market. Same specs with R15 but only 125cc engine.
- Yamaha Jupiter Z1 – Just launched recently in indonesia, 115cc motorbike. agressively promoted by yamaha in MotoGP and this bike is the official service bike of Jorge Lorenzo in all MotoGP events.
So of all the above Yamaha EFI bikes,
Which one do you think will be introduced in the Philippines this coming Sept 9, 2012?
Below are the bikes you can choose:
Yamaha R125 – Surely wont be introduced here in Philippines due to high cost of production. In europe it cost P250k and its only 125cc. Definitely not for Philippine market.
Yamaha R15 – Rumors are spreading since last year that this bike will be introduced here by the factory. Although this model is sold locally thru imports by some dealers.
This will be a good bike if introduced here so that there will be a competition with the CBR150 of Honda.
Yamaha doesn’t have any sports bike model for sale in the country.
Vixion – I doubt, Pinoys love a big bike look than naked type bike. So surely Yamaha would prefer R15 over Vixion.
Unless they have a different marketing strategy
Jupiter Z1 – I am 95% sure that this is the model that Yamaha Philippines will unveil this September 9!
Why?
First, it is agressively marketed by Yamaha Motors Globally thru MotoGP.
Second, “Most” asians prefer underbone bikes as daily service bike compared to sports bike due to its simplicity and easy to drive for women.
Third, cheaper production cost, less materials compared to sports bike.
If i have a choice, i want R15 to be introduced here in the Philippines here so that Yamaha will also have a sports bike model in the market which Honda is currently dominating.
But given the reasons above, its JUPITER Z1 that will be launch this coming sept 9!
Hopefully im wrong!
If ever im wrong, i will give freebie to selected person who will comment on this blog. 🙂
